The exhibition is distributed by the MUSE for the promotion and cultural preservation (association law 1901 of French law).

The association supports concrete projects that respond to missions related to the preservation and promotion of innovative, original, historic cultural heritage in order to be presented to a wide audience.

It has also given itself the mission of proposing educational programs corresponding to the actions it creates.

The projects must have a strong cultural content whether they are in universes as varied as the plastic arts, photography, new pictorial or sound technologies, live performance, etc ...

The association must finance all of its projects through patronage actions.

Its mode of intervention is fundraising and management. It must create and support projects under its name and then promote corporate generosity by receiving, financing and if necessary redistributing donations.

"Muse for the promotion and cultural preservation" must allow the safeguarding of works and then present them to the public.

After training in Art History and visual communication techniques, he created in 1989, in homage to Georges Méliès and Emile Reynaud, " Mediapolis , International Days of Image and Communication", festival of images with Warner Bros. The Walt Disney Company or the Le Canard Enchainé and the first Harcourt exhibition.

From the 90s, he joined RMC (Radio Monte Carlo) with Yves Mourousi, then at the Société Française de Production with Michel Bassi as part of the privatization of the Brie-sur Marne cinema studios.

.

In 1996, he moved to the United States and became a consultant to set up companies on American soil. It was during this period that he met Henri Dauman .

A few years later, he created his own consulting company for the creation of cultural and sporting events.

In 2013, he produce the exhibition project " The Manhattan Darkroom, Henri Dauman Photographs" which will be inaugurated on November 4, 2014 at the Palais d'Iéna in Paris.

Audrey Hoareau
Exhibition curator

A graduate in communication, Audrey Hoareau joined, from 2003 to 2016, the Nicéphore Niépce Museum in Chalon-sur-Saône and worked on one of the most important public collections in Europe.

 

From 2016 to 2019, she founded and co-directed with François Cheval, The Red Eye , a platform for international projects dedicated to photography. In 2017, she contributed to the launch of the Lianzhou Museum of Photography , the first public photography museum in China, and took part in its international programming for two seasons.


Since 2018, she is Artistic Director of the Circulation(s) Festival in Paris and since 2019, she is Artistic Director of Photo Basel , International Art Fair, the only fair dedicated to photography in Switzerland.

Audrey Hoareau has been curator or co-curator of several important exhibitions such as "Dancing in the Street," Peter Knapp et la Mode. 1960-1970 ", the Isabel Muñoz exhibitions," The Anthropology of Feelings "in Tabacalera, and" Black Panthers "by Stephen Shames.

François Cheval

François Cheval, French nationality, born one year after Stalin's death, a few months after Diên Biên Phû, under the double sign of anti-Stalinism and anti-colonialism.


After studying History and Ethnology at the University of Franche-Comté, entered museums in 1982, successively in Jura and Reunion Island.
Takes the direction of the Nicéphore Niépce Museum (Chalon-sur-Saône) dedicated to the history and uses of photography, in 1996. There, he tries, surrounded by artists, historians, engineers and researchers, to innovate, as much as possible, in the field of museography.

François Cheval is currently artistic director of the BMW Residence since its creation in 2011, co-founder of the Lianzhou Museum of Photography (2017) and the Center Photographique de Mougins (2020).


Has published numerous books, notices and articles on photographers supported by the museum he directs: J. Batho, P. Knapp, H. Madani, Y. Trémorin, P. Tosani, JL Moulène, A. Leccia, C. Chevrier, A Zaatari, M. Pernot, V. Marnat, L. Millet, Mac Adams, Y. Onodera, J. Le Gac, S. Guigui, etc.
